The importance of complementary examinations in otitis

Otitis externa in dogs presents a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for every veterinarian. Commonly requiring clinical consultation, up to 25% of dogs and cats taken to clinics for a consultation turn out to have an ear problem. In addition to being so common, the ear pathology can become chronic and recurring, whilst characterized by its multifactorial etiology. The acronym used to describe the mechanism is PSPP: Primary, Secondary, Predisposing, and Perpetuating.
